I'm 25, soon to be 26-year old guy. Something happened in the last couple of years and I started re-evaluating my life - my goals, what I'm doing right now, and where I'm going. Some things I like, some not so much. I'd like to dig into some people's life experience over here and find out: WHAT DID YOU FIND OUT IN YOUR LIFE THAT YOU WISHED YOU KNEW BEFORE? I'm talking about several areas in particular: 1) Life in general, your own goals, your attitude towards yourself and shaping of your future, or what does your past mean to you; 2) How opinions and actions/behaviours of others affect you - positively or negatively; 3) How your opinions and actions/behaviours affect others - positively or negatively. Also, please include your age, how old were you when you had that epiphany (from "The Simpsons: The Movie" the definition of epiphany is "a sudden realization of great truth"), and what caused it. I'll start off by saying that my epiphany was that I'm in charge of my own life. No matter how others criticize what I do, no matter what they advise me to do, I'm the only one living my own life, I'm the one who'll have to deal with the consequences of my behaviour - positive or negative, so ultimately if I decide to do so, I may choose to ignore anything and/or everything anybody tells me if I find their opinions conflict with my own goals. I only realized that less than a year ago, and wished I found it out 10 years before, so that I could do some things that would impact my future positively (but didn't because others thought it wouldn't be appropriate or 'cool') and would not do other things, that I've done only to please others and which caused some big problems in my own life. Thanks for your answers. One thing I'd like to mention - I don't mean anything regarding something in terms of specialized knowledge (like "I wish I knew before this job would pay so much" or "I wish I knew computers would be so fast nowdays") and other things related to science, technology, business etc. Only life experience please.... read more
